I'm a librarian by profession and an avid genealogist. I’ve spent years looking through scrapbooks, records, and old family photos. I think that postcard messages give us a glimpse into the lives of our recent ancestors that we can’t get from any other medium. Postcards are out of fashion and mostly left to collectors, but I believe that they can be a very important tool for genealogical research and my hope is that you will find one of your ancestors written about here.
Each postcard provides us with the name and address of a recipient. We know that piece of mail was delivered and that this was a place where that person lived on or near the date of the postmark. A postcard tells us that there was someone that cared enough to send a message to that person and in my research I often learn the why....
